National Governing Body (NGB) awards for hill walking and climbing (mountaineering) are completely separate from Scout Authorisations and the two have no formal interaction, except for Scouts assessors who are expected to hold an NGB award.
However, the Scout Association aspires to instruct its authorised leaders to the same high standard as the NGB qualification so there are inevitably similarities between the two schemes. This page is simply for information but we'd encourage any scout permit holder keen on the hills to consider also progressing through the NGB scheme.
