Winter trip has been CANCELLED
13th February 2020
Email to applicants, 10.00 am, Thursday 13th February.
The other group leaders have been very closely monitoring the weather forecast and ground conditions in Snowdonia and have reluctantly decided to CANCEL THE TRIP this weekend.
We've given it every chance but the forecast has deteriorated further over the last couple of days, to the point where the strength of the wind will make walking impossible and the amount of rain will make it extremely miserable as well. Frankly it would be irresponsible and unsafe to take people onto the hill in the forecast conditions and there are also genuine concerns over the journey to and from North Wales. This is the first time in my memory that the IMC has had to cancel a trip in advance because of the weather, which goes to show how bad it's likely to be.
Apologies for the disappointment but this decision has not been taken lightly and the highly experienced group leaders are unanimous that cancelation is the only sensible option. We have taken the decision now to give you time to re-rrange your day tomorrow and the rest of weekend. Since the IMC has cancelled the trip, full refunds will be issued and I will be in touch next week regarding how we go about this.
